In a troubling development, suspected terrorists have abducted a Catholic priest from his parish rectory in Adamawa State.
The incident occurred on 21st May 2024, at the St Rita Catholic Church located in Bare, Numan Local Government Area.
The abducted priest, Reverend Father Oliver Buba, was reportedly taken by gunmen who stormed the church premises. Details about the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping remain unclear at this time.
The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Most Rev. Dr Stephen Dami Mamza, has called on all “Christian faithful and men and women of goodwill to earnestly pray for the quick and safe release” of the priest.
The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the incident and has launched a full-scale search operation to locate Father Buba and apprehend his abductors.
