Some youths in the Adamawa state capital have joined counterparts across the country protesting #Endbadgovernance protest.
The Protesters who were mainly youths including people living with disability gathered at strategic locations in the state capital chanting songs with placards and then moved in procession to Mahmud Ribadu Square in the company of security personnel.
Some of the placards with various inscriptions read such as “We thank President Tinubu for Local Government autonomy”, and “Disable people are solidly behind President Tinubu” among others.
Commenting on the development, the spokesman of the state Police Command, Superintendent of Police, SP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje said Police and other security agencies have provided adequate protection to the protesters.
SP Nguroje expressed delight with the manner exhibited by them and urged them to sustain the tempo so as not to allow hoodlums to hijack it.
While in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Thursday, residents have declined to participate in the ongoing national protest against the Federal Government over persistent hardship.
It was observed residents were going about their normal daily activities on Thursday, even as security personnel from various agencies were stationed along major roads in the state capital.
The Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports had tactically organized a youth summit at the Government House that diverted the attention of youths from the protest.
The summit drew youths from all 21 local government areas of the state to the Government House in Lokoja, where the governor and members of his cabinet were present.
Earlier, youth groups in the state had distanced themselves from the planned protest,
Meanwhile, businesses in the state capital, including banks and corporate offices, remained open, and residents continued with their normal activities.
There was heavy security presence, but regular activities continued at the popular Ganaja Flyover in Lokoja.
However, in Lagos, a woman was seen carrying an empty pot during the protest on Kudirat Abiola Way in Ikeja, Lagos.
The woman’s empty pot, a potent symbol of hunger and hardship, resonated with many protesters who are struggling with high inflation, unemployment, and economic instability.
The women has sent a powerful message on the situation faced by many Nigerians who are struggling to make ends meet.
