The kinsmen of Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Soludo, from Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area, have staged a protest over the killing of three young men by Udo Ga Achi operatives.
The protest took place in Isuofia, where the kinsmen accused the Agunechemba ,Udo Ga Achi group of murdering the three youths , claiming they were mistaken for kidnappers.
The protesters stated that the victims were working at a construction site in Owerre-Ezukala when the Udo Ga Achi operatives mistakenly identified them as kidnappers and gunned them down.
A viral video supported a series of voice notes alleging that the three young men were victims of mistaken identity.
The video showed that they were working at the building site in Owerre-Ezukala when the operatives shot them, believing them to be kidnappers.
Among the protesters were angry women, seen in the viral video, expressing their pain and outrage. They used the corpses of the three Isuofia youths to barricade the road opposite the Catholic Church in the community.
While many have praised the state government for its renewed offensive against criminal elements in the state, others have questioned the mode of operations of the security operatives, citing concerns about human rights infringements and a rush to judgment.
When contacted, the press secretary to the governor ,Christain Aburime, said he was not aware of any protest against the activities of Agunaechemba.
According to him, the Agunechemba operatives were properly trained for their roles and had clear rules of engagement.
He further explained that with their training, it would not be easy for them to trample on human rights.
The state’s local security outfit was launched on January 18 to combat the rising threats of kidnapping, violent crimes, and other criminal activities in the state
