Nnewi-born businessman, Chief Joseph Nzelu, has said that the major challenge facing the present generation of young entrepreneurs is that they are impatient. In an exclusive interview with the West African Pilot News, Mr. Nzelu, a successful businessman and the Chairman of Nnewi business community of the Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association – ASPAMDA, in Lagos, said that the young generation of entrepreneurs are in a hurry and this, he pointed out, is a major challenge facing new generation of businessmen and women. “The biggest challenge is that the young generation doesn’t exercise patience. They are in a hurry, thereby make mistakes”.
Chief Joseph Nzelu who turns 50 years on 9th March 2025, has been in business for a total of 27 years and started his business after he had successfully completed his apprenticeship and was settled by his oga.
Born on March 9, 1975, to Mr. and Mrs. Phili Nzelu of Egbu village Umuenem, Otolo Nnewi, Joseph attended Nnewi High School, where he distinguished himself in learning and was set to go on to the university to study medicine and surgery. However, his dream of becoming a medical doctor was cut short because of a lack of finances, principally due to his father’s early demise. However, this did not deter him from making an impact.
His company, Jila Product Manufacturing Company Ltd, is arguably the most outstanding in motor shock absorber in Nigeria.
As a successful businessman, Mr. Nzelu has impacted many lives, through scholarships to the less privileged, among many other support and charity works. In addition, he has raised many who went through the apprenticeship training with him, some of whom have become exceptionally successful businessmen.
After 27 years in business and at 50 years, Chief Joseph Nzelu observed that experience is important for business success. “To succeed in business, feasibility studies, learning the trade or business and experience are critical for success,” Nzelu affirmed.
