Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has addressed the people of the state following deadly attacks in the Zikwe Village of Bassa Local Government Area and Bokkos, which have claimed over 50 lives in the past one week.
In a statewide broadcast on Wednesday, 16 April, Mutfwang condemned the brutal attacks, describing them as “calculated, persistent, and painful,” but assured residents that Plateau remains “unbroken.”
Mutfwang commended the swift response of emergency responders and security agencies, and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing security forces to pursue justice.
The Governor announced new security measures, including the prohibition of night grazing, the ban on cattle transportation after 7:00 P.M., and restrictions on motorcycle movement from 7:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M., effective immediately.
In addition, all hospitals in affected areas will offer free medical care to victims, and relief materials are on their way.
Mutfwang also urged traditional rulers and youth leaders to reinstate local vigilante patrols in collaboration with security forces.
To the grieving families, Mutfwang assured, “Your pain is ours,” and vowed that peace would be restored.
