Suspected insurgents have again struck Kopre village in Hong LGA of Adamawa around 4:00 pm local time on 26th April, 2025, Saturday, killing no fewer than 10 Hunters and Civilian JTF.
Since 2024, the village, which shares a border with Sambisa forest, den of Boko Haram insurgents in Borno state, has witnessed a series of attacks that claimed many lives, destroyed properties worth millions of naira, and abducted the locals.
In one of the attacks, 40 residents of the village that the insurgents abducted over a year ago are still in captivity.
According to sources, the Civilian JTF was deployed from Hawul local government area of Borno state, and the Hunters were deployed from other local government areas of Adamawa State to complement the efforts of security agencies on the ground fighting the insurgents.
It was gathered the victims came under heavy attack from the insurgents who drove in motorcycles armed with sophisticated weapons that superseded that of the hunters and Civilian JTF.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police command has deployed more Police personnel to augment the security strength in the area to improve security across the border to prevent violent crimes, protect lives and property, arrest and recover illegal possession of firearms.
The Command Spokesman, SP Sueliman Yahya Nguroje in a statement said the commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris has warned the officers deployed to display talent, professionalism, prompt response as part of strategy to prevent all forms of violent crimes in those areas.
The CP further reiterates the commitment of the command to protect the lives and property of citizens and urges the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information that can aid in preventing crime and ensuring public safety.
