Troops of the Nigerian Army, in a coordinated effort with other security agencies, have rescued six individuals, including a Deputy Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), from suspected kidnappers in Taraba State.
The operation followed a distress report received late on Saturday, 27th April, at approximately 11:40 p.m., from a local youth leader, Abe Samuel. He had alerted security personnel that a Toyota Hilux was attacked along the Wukari–Kente Road.
Responding swiftly, troops moved to the scene and found the abandoned vehicle, bearing registration number FG 117-B03. The vehicle had a punctured tyre, and its occupants were nowhere to be found.
A joint search and rescue mission was immediately launched. By 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, 28th April, the team successfully located and rescued the NDLEA Deputy Commander for Zone 1, Ibadan, Mr Musa Hudu, along with five other victims. They were discovered in a nearby bush and were all unharmed.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had fled into the bush for safety after being attacked by three armed men wielding a dane gun.
Following their rescue, the victims were safely escorted out of the area. Their vehicle was repaired, and they were able to continue with their journey without further incident.
