The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed building materials and funds to no fewer than 280 persons who lost their houses in Kamfani Village in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, who flagged off the disbursement of relief items and cash to affected victims, said the day marked another historic occasion. The state government and NEMA presented building materials worth millions of naira as well as cash to the people displaced by devastating floods last year in Kamfani, the Village of the state.
Represented by his deputy, Abubakar Umar Tafida, the Governor urged the beneficiaries to use items judiciously to sustain their livelihoods.
According to him, a committee has been set up to oversee land distribution at the government-provided new site for victims, stressing that the gesture is aimed at reconstructing the village, which suffered extensive damage during last year’s flooding.
In his message, NEMA Director General, Zubaida Umar, who was represented by a director in charge of NEMA’s northwest zone, Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi, said the items includes one truck of cement, 600 pieces of roofing sheets, 200 bundles of zinc, and 50 bags of nails, among other things.
Umar added that the gesture is to support the long-term recovery and rebuilding of Kamfani Village, fostering resilience within the community.
