NewsNigeriaTwo Killed, 10 Injured in Lagos Building Collapse After Rainfall

Heavy rainfall resulting in mudslide has caused a building to collapse in Lagos, emergency officials disclosed.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said it responded to a distress call at 12:40 pm on Wednesday at Gafari Balogun Street in Ogudu.

“Immediately, the Tiger Team of the Agency was activated to the incident scene. On arrival at the scene, it was observed that a segment of the building collapsed as a result of mudslide from the back of the building trapping two persons.”

The Director-General of LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu said officials commenced rescue efforts when informed that two children, one male and one female were trapped.

“Unfortunately, they were found dead and their remains have been transported to the mortuary. Ten people sustained injuries and were treated on the spot. Integrity test will be carried out on the building which has now been cordoned off.”
