A six-person committee led by veteran actress, Joke Silva, set-up to suggest and recommend to the Lagos State government how to re-activate the State’s creative industry which has been dormant due to COVID-19, has submitted its report.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, while receiving the report, thanked the committee and promised that the findings would be made public and implemented after being reviewed.
“On behalf of Mr. Governor, I want to thank you specially and assure you that the report won’t be kept under the table as Mr. Governor has the interest of this sector at heart, so be assured that your good works will bring forth good fruit.
“We will ensure that in the next one or two weeks, the recommendations will be made public and we hope that you will continue to collaborate with us as we move the tourism, creativity, entertainment and hospitality sector forward in the State,” Mrs Yusuf said.
The Chairperson of the committee, Mrs Joke Silva, appreciated the State Government for the opportunity to proffer recommendations to reposition the creative and tourism industry in the State.

She noted that the recommendations were gathered from sub-committees in the sector on ways forward, while also thanking her colleagues for their cooperation and dedication during the deliberations.
Members of the committee included Mr. Atunyota Akpobome (Ali Baba); Mr Patrick Donald Lee; Dr Adun Okupe; Mrs Oyenike Okundaye; Mr. Gbenga Sunmonu and Mr. Debo Alexander. It got support from the Special Assistant to the Commissioner, Mr. Ferdinand Tinubu, and the Director of Hotel Licensing in the Ministry, Mr Jobi Ibraheem.
