Senator Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru Binani, senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District Assembly on Thursday distributed 12,600 bags of NPK 20-10-10 fertilizer to seven Local Government Areas of her constituency.
Seven LGAs representing the Central zone will have one trailer load of 600 bags each, while other 14 LGAs of the Southern and Northern Senatorial District will have 300 bags of the fertilizer each.
Binani said the gesture is aimed at helping peasants farmers, stakeholders, elders and All progressives congress (APC) Executive Committee members.
“Each bag goes to our 2,640 ward heads, our village heads 258 of them will receive two bags each and the 28 district heads of the zone will have 5 bags each of the fertilizer, making a total of 6 trailer loads to be distributed free to you,” Binani said
Binani while making her speech at the official flag-off for the free distribution of 21 trailer loads of the 12,600 bags of fertilizer in Yola said a committee made up of major stakeholders and elders across each LGA has been constituted to ensure transparency in the distribution.
“The distribution of free fertilizer to our farmers is a personal donation or assistance I would rather say, to our people in these difficult times and it is not a constituency project. We thank the Almighty Allah for the Blessed rains and pray for a good harvest from our farms.” She added
Earlier the APC state Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal while making his speech at the occasion described Engr Aishatu a Woman of noble character that can do what many politicians put together cannot do.
He said the state is fortunate to have such a great woman and prayed God to bless her greatly to what she has done to Adamawa farmers irrespective of party or constituency she represents.
