A Court injunction restricting the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi from burying the Parish priest of St Peter’s Claver Nnewichi Nnewi, Late Fr. Edmund Nwagbara (inset) has been issued. The court injunction specifically called for all funeral and burial arrangements cease until a proper and thorough autopsy is done to ascertain the cause of death.
West African Pilot News, Nnewi, December 30, 2019 – It would be recalled that hell was let loose as the breaking of the news of Fr Nwagbala’s demise woke up the entire world on the fateful morning of 16th November, 2019. The priest’s death was allegedly reported to has been a result of fire outbreak.
Owing to controversies surrounding his mysterious demise, the family called for a detailed explanation and timely investigation on what led to his death.
According to the Spokesman of the family, Obi Oliver Nwagbala, :”there was a foul play on our brother (Father’s) death”.Confirming further, Obi Nwagbala said their request was turned deaf ears as the church is preparing earnestly for his burial .
However, The West African Pilot News reliably gathered that the court has put a hold to his burial slated for the 15th of January, 2020. This is an aftermath of the Nnewi Catholic Diocesan’s Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Hygi Aghulor’s refusal to retract his submissions on the circumstances surrounding Fr.Nwagbala’s death after the elapse of the court’s directives.
