Two villagers were killed on Tuesday, 19 December, in an attack on Pemi village in Chibok LGA of Borno State by Boko Haram jihadists.
The terror gang stormed the village at 7:00 p.m., firing gunshots into the air recklessly.
Eyewitnesses recounted scenes of panic and fear as villagers scrambled for cover in nearby bushes while the attackers descended upon homes, looting food items and setting houses ablaze.
“We are certain that two persons died from the terrorists’ gunshots, but there could be more which we cannot ascertain yet,” a villager, Moses Adamu said.
Adamu said a majority of the villagers spent the night in the bushes during the terror attack while some found refuge in neighbouring communities.
Police authorities in Borno have confirmed the attack, identifying the dead locals as Badi (75 years) and Ngule (45 years).
“The situation has since returned to normal,” the State Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Kenneth assured.
The attack on Pemi is part of a series of attacks that have targeted communities in Chibok.
The town became infamous after Boko Haram terrorists abducted 276 schoolgirls from a government-owned college in April 2014.
