Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State has reiterated his commitment to security, stressing his government’s desire to continue to enforce a zero-tolerance to the safety of lives and property in the state.
The Governor disclosed this in a chat with a Vigilante Group, Professional Hunters on Tuesday in Lokoja.
While commending the Group for its unbending, untiring and unwavering commitment to the security of the state, Ododo noted that its contributions has helped in stabilising the security of the state.
He thanked the Professional Hunters for putting their lives on the line to ensure the security of Kogi people, saying that the state is already reaping the huge investment in security.
Ododo apreciated the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and all the heads of security agencies for their support since he assumed office, stressing that their unflinching support has helped in stabilising the security of the state.
The Governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for spotting a security czar like Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, saying the President’s talent spotting acumen has never been in doubt.
Earlier, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd) commended the Governor for his avowed commitment to security, pointing out that his efforts are already pushing criminals away from the state.
Omodara thanked the Vigilante Group for their heroics, assuring the people that the State Government will continue to adopt “community-led security approach”.
Prof. Abdullahi Yau, the leader of the Group in his remarks noted that the Professional Hunters were encouraged by the commitment and support of the State Governor.
He assured the State that the Group will continue to cooperate and collaborate with other security agencies to stamp out criminality from Kogi State.
In his closing remarks, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bethrand Onuoha thanked the Professional Hunters for living up to expectations and for cooperating with the conventional security agencies to fight insecurity in the State.
The Professional Hunters numbering about 300 have been in the State for over two months to work with the security architecture on ground.
The meeting was attended by top government officials, Local Government Chairmen and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bertrand Onuoha.
