Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has made history in the governance of the state by holding the executive council meeting via video conference.
The meeting which was held online was chaired by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and had in attendance the deputy governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and the commissioners in the state.
The commissioner of information and strategy, Gbenga Omotosho said the meeting was held via Zoom, a free HD meeting application with video and screen sharing up to 100 people and that the idea was in compliance with the ban on gatherings.
The amazed commissioners exchanged banters, waved hands and laughed before the meeting started at 11:05 when Mr. Sanwo-Olu came online.
“The meeting was slated for 10:45am but almost all EXCO members had hooked up to the system by 10:00am, awaiting the arrival of Mr. Governor to kickstart deliberations for the day.
“Members were in high spirits. Some of us were in our offices; others attended the online meeting from the comfort of their homes. With this historic achievement, residents are assured that governance in Lagos State will continue, irrespective of the situation around us,” Omotosho said.
The idea of the online meeting was reported to have originated from Mr. Sanwo-Olu who directed the Ministry of Science and Technology to facilitate it.
