Again Kano State Private Health Institution Management Agency [PHIMA] has shut down a clinic allegedly operating with unqualified medical personnel.
Reports indicate that the closure of the health facility named, Fresh-Care Clinic, situated in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of Kano was based on complaints by residents over alleged unprofessional conduct of operations.
A statement by the Executive Secretary of the agency Dr. Usman Tijjani Aliyu stated the persistent complaints of patients’ mismanagement at the private health facility led to surveillance by the agency which subsequently exposed the quacks working at the clinic giving the wrong diagnosis to unsuspecting patients.
It further stated that the illegal act was perpetrated due to alleged self-disengagement of the registered Medical Director of the clinic in the person of Dr. Auwal Ahmad for months without formally notifying the Private Health Institution Management Agency.
Both the Medical Director and the Proprietor of the clinic would be prosecuted after investigation to serve as a deterrent to others.
‘’All the unqualified staff arrested during the raid of the facility would be charged to court also to discourage and prevent this from recurring, ‘’said the statement.
Earlier, last February, the West African Pilot recalls, Kano State Government closed-down a medical facility with a fake medical doctor and health officers operating at the centre.
The agency nabbed a suspect, who claimed to be a qualified doctor, at a private maternity home, named, Family Maternity and Clinic situated on Hadejia road Yankaba in Nassarawa local government area.
Not only that, as a joint operation of the agency and the Nigerian Medical Association had on January, but 27th also apprehended a suspected fake Medical Doctor, Ibrahim Adamu who engaged in the illegal act for years before his arrest and on February 4th arrested another fake medical doctor, Christie John.
