A situation report by the Adamawa State Ministry of Health indicates that the seven front line contacts of the first COVID-19 index case recorded in the state have tested negative to the virus.
The report which was co-signed by Dr. Pembi Emmanuel, state epidemiologist, and Dr. Jerry Pantuvo, World Health Organization’s (WHO) surveillance officer on April 26, 2020, stated that since the outbreak of the disease in the state, only one positive case was confirmed on April 21, 2020.
“Index case is a 47-year-old man who presented with cough, fever, and body weakness on his return from Kano on 14 of April 2020. The sample was collected on 18/04/2020.
” Patient is stable with all vital signs return to normal.
” A total of 25 suspected cases have been investigated, 1 positive, 7 negative and 17 pending,” the report said.
The report noted that a total of 94 contacts have been registered to add that 84 of these contacts are under follow up.
It could be recalled that in the wake of the COVID-19 index case in the state, the state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri imposed another 14-day lockdown on the state to contain the spread of the disease.
