The social media giant, Twitter, had announced on Tuesday, its plans to let all its employees who wish to work from home to do so for the foreseeable future. It says this will also be allowed in the post-COVID-19 world.

The company made this known in a statement on Tuesday. The company said that the past few months had seen its staff work remotely is proof that it can work.

The statement read in part, “Twitter was one of the first companies to go to a WFH [work from home] model in the face of COVID-19, but we don’t anticipate being one of the first to return to offices,”

“So, if our employees are in a role and situation that enables them to work from home and they want to continue to do so forever, we will make that happen. If not, our offices will be their warm and welcoming selves, with some additional precautions, when we feel it’s safe to return.”

Twitter also added that the employees will decide to come back to the office or continue to work from home.

It added that its offices are not likely to open before September, and if reopening occurs, it will be a gradual and cautious process. It said in-person events in the company for the rest of 2020 are scheduled.

“We’re proud of the early action we took to protect the health of our employees and our communities,” Twitter said. “That will remain our top priority as we work through the unknowns of the coming months.”

Before now, some experts have said working remotely had come to stay as the pandemic had provided the ground for the experiment.
