The All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Caretaker Committee has appointed the Kano State Governor, Abdullah Ganduje, to lead 49-member National Campaign Council for the September 19 governorship poll in Edo.
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Yekini Nabena, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.
The statement reads in part, “Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo will serve as Deputy Chairman, while Mr. Abbas Braimoh would serve as Secretary of the 49-member APC National Campaign Council.
“This followed the approval for the constitution of a National Campaign Council for the Sept.19, 2020 election, by the National Chairman of the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Gov. Mai Mala Buni,”
The statement also stated that the inauguration of the campaign committee will come up on July 6, 2020 at the party’s National Secretariat, Abuja.
The statement read that the committee has four state governors, the Deputy Senate President, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege; two former National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun and Adams Oshiomhole are among the members.
Both Oshiomhole and Odigie-Oyegun had been at loggerheads before the APC primary election in Edo state, with Odigie-Oyegun on the side of the governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, who had defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Oshiomhole was alleged to have worked for the emergence of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is not the party’s candidate.

Recalled that Ize-Iyamu emerged as the APC flag bearer for the Edo governorship election on June 22.
