The Commissioner for Health, Ondo State, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro, is dead.

It was learned that the commissioner had been sick for some days before his passing away this morning.

According to VanguardNgr, reports from government quarters say the commissioner dies of COVID-19.

Adegbenro who was 65-year old before his death was born on 5th June 1955 at Ilara-mokin in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He was a member of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA); a member of the Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria; an Associate member of the Royal College of General Practitioners of London; and a member of the Nigeria Guild of Medical Directors.

He was the Chief Medical Director of Crown Hospital, Akure, a hospital he had established before he was nominated as commissioner.

Another online medium, SaharaReporters, says government official confirmed that Adegbenro was rushed to a hospital in Owo after contracting the COVID-19.

The source said, “The Commissioner died at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo and this has just thrown the entire cabinet into chaos.

“He died of COVID-19 because he had contracted the virus earlier and was taking drugs at his own comfort being a medical doctor.”

On Tuesday, West African Pilot News reported that Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu was tested positive to COVID-19. The governor is currently on self-isolation.
