A team monitoring the compliance of private schools in Lagos has sealed 10 schools in the State.

The Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, who led the team, said that the exercise was to discourage the nonchalant attitude of some school owners and administrators to the directive and guide against the spread of the scourge.

“No doubt, COVID-19 has had negative effects on our schools but we want students to come out stronger and better. We want to make sure schools are closed in compliance with the government directives since the number of COVID-19 cases has increased dramatically in recent times.

“This is a dangerous disease and it is vital that we abide by all safety directive as issued by the government for our protection,” Seriki-Ayeni said.

The Director-General urged parents and students to embrace virtual learning while also encouraging school administrators to train their staff through online training and webinars.

“This is the time to think and plan strategically to form good partnerships with government in order to get resources for your school,” she affirmed.
