Reactions have continued to trail the public praise of President Buhari by Governor Nyesom Wike, for the N78.9 billion the Federal Government approved to be returned to River State.
Surprised by the actions of Governor Wike, who hitherto, was a staunch critic of President Buhari, Femi Adeshina, Special Adviser on Media to the President, wrote an article with the title ‘Wike vindicates Buharists’.
Mr Adesina said: “There was also the then Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, who had formed a tag team with Wike in the anti-Buhari tendency. The President could have dealt with them in many ways, either overtly or covertly, but let them be. He was a father ready to tolerate his many children, irrespective of their differing idiosyncrasies, propensities and predilections.”
However, the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has reacted to comments by Femi Adesina. In a flurry of tweets, Mr Fayose attacked the President and warned Mr Adeshina to desist from taunting him.
“On the comment by my brother and friend, @FemiAdeshina, on the President not ‘dealing with myself and Gov Wike,’ President Buhari, in my opinion, is an ‘Accidental President,’ who is not only clueless but unconscious of happenings in his own Presidency.
“A man who can’t defend or protect his immediate family is not in any way better than an effigy. If not, those around won’t be talking about a President ‘punishing’ serving governors or even ordinary Nigerians as if they are his servants.
“Femi Adeshina, do you realize I have been quiet for a while, having concluded that Buhari’s Presidency is deaf and dumb? So don’t wake a sleeping lion so as not be confronted with consequences you can’t contend with,” Fayose stated.
