Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has read riot act, threatened that anyone found wanting in the latest communal clash in Guyuk local government areas will be dealt with, saying that ” no one is above the law!”
The Governor said this at the Palace of Kwandi Nungurya in Guyuk while presiding over a security meeting over the recent violence in the area that claimed many lives and property.
Fintiri, who was disturbed by the security threats bedeviling the communities said such scenarios must be stopped.
He said that the government will not relent in its efforts towards securing the areas,” perpetrators of this unabated Lungunga/Waja crisis must be brought to book and face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.
To this end, he prevailed on the people to have a rethink so that peace and tranquility will reign in the areas,” A joint inter state security summit between Adamawa and Gombe states is in the pipeline to develop a peace pact for the overall benefit of the border communities in both states.
” Our his administration will not surrender the state to criminal elements,” assuring the people that the government will continue to use all available means of finding a lasting solution to the insecurity threats in the area.
Earlier , Kwandi Nunguraya kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda said Lunguda and Waja have been living in peace from time immemorial and called for the warring communities to embrace lasting peace.
In their separate contributions, State chairmen of Muslim Council and Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Alhaji Gambo Jika and Bishop Dami Mamza all admonished the warring communities on the need to sheath their sword and allow peace to reign.
The governor alongside his entourage later visited internally displaced persons at Guyuk Central Primary School where he told them that government was doing its best for lasting peace in the areas and promised them better days ahead
