At least three members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites have been reportedly killed by the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Kaduna State.

The West African Pilot News gathered that the Shi’ite members were holding their Ashura annual mourning session when the police attacked them at Hayin Bello area of Kaduna metropolis.

The President Media Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim Musa, confirmed that three of their members were killed in Kaduna on Saturday.

‘’ Reports reaching us confirmed that Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, fresh from the pains of being de-invited to the annual conference of the NBA and the support of that by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, has sent a combined force of armed men and thugs to violently attack members of the Movement who were conducting the Ashura mourning session in Kaduna.

‘’On Saturday evening, at Hayin Bello neighborhood, a team of policemen attacked a gathering of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria holding the annual Ashura mourning commemorating the brutal assassination of Imam Husein, the Grandson of Prophet Muhammad (S) and killed 3 persons instantly.

‘’ Those killed are Abubakar Talle, Ali Rigasa, and an unnamed person, with over ten people injured by gunshots. The police also vandalise the vehicles of those who attended the mourning session.

‘’A police vehicle caught fire after it fell into a gutter, resulting in the burning of a house close to it.

‘’This year’s Ashura mourning was started on Thursday 20/08/2020 coinciding with the beginning of new Islamic calendar 1442 in two other neighborhoods peacefully and is scheduled to culminate on the tenth of Muharram next week, ‘’ he stated.

Meanwhile, efforts to get the police spokesman in Kaduna proved abortive as at the time of filing this report, but a senior police officer who doesn’t want his name mentioned as he was not authorized to speak to the press described the IMN’s  claim as “a blatant lie.”

The officer   noted that the IMN was used to making such ‘’frivolous claims in the past, and it has been their tradition.”

‘’ The command got wind of their planned procession and police went and dispersed them successfully,’’ the source claims.
