Emergency officials are responding to the scene of a helicopter crash that occurred at Opebi in Lagos on Friday afternoon.

The Bell 206 helicopter with registration number 5N BQW reportedly belongs to Quorom Aviation. It flew from Port Harcourt with two crew members and a passenger but crashed into a building at a densely populated area in Lagos.

Officials said that the crash resulted in the injury of one person who has been taken to the hospital and the death of two people whose remains have been deposited at the mortuary.

The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, while addressing journalists at the scene, described the emergency response to the scene as “swift and efficient”

“The major challenge we are having now is crowd control but the Commissioner of Paolice has led his team to ensure that we are on top of crowd control,” Osanyintolu said.

“This is an unusual occurrence. It is an unusual disaster. But the good thing about it is that all the challenges like fire, we were able to control it using our fire service.”

The LASEMA boss said that no one the ground was affected.

This is a developing story. Details later.
