The flight recorder of the helicopter that crashed in Lagos on Friday has been recovered by the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) to unravel the cause of the accident.

The General Manager, Public Affairs of the Accident Investigation Bureau, Tunji Oketunbi, said that investigation had begun.

The bell helicopter with registration number 5N BQW belongs to Quorum Aviation and was flying from Port Harcourt with two crew members and a passenger when it crashed into a building at Opebi, a densely populated area in Lagos.

Two people were confirmed dead and one injured person was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has condoled with families and friends of the victims, Femi Adeshina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President stated.

“While the nation awaits report of investigation into the accident by aviation regulatory agencies, the President prays that God will console the bereaved families, grant peace to the souls of the dead and speedy recovery for the injured,” the statement read.

The WAP News had reported that the Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Femi Osanyintolu, said that no one on the ground was affected and that rescue officials had difficulty controlling the crowd.
