A concerned Nigerian man has gone solo to protest the increase in petrol price and Electricity tariff plan.

The man on Thursday was seen opposite the University of Ibadan staging the one-man protest against the new increase in the basic commodity.

The man was seen carrying a placard with the inscription, “I can’t take this anymore, increased petrol price and Electricity tariff”

A Twitter user, who saw the one-man protest wrote on his Twitter, “Saw this one-man Protest opposite the University of Ibadan. “I can’t take this anymore, increased petrol price and Electricity tariff”.

The Petroleum Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), on Wednesday, increased the ex-depot price of the PMS to ₦151.56 per liter and marketers have said the product would be sold between ₦162 and ₦165 per liter.

Also, the Buhari administration recently increased the electricity tariff to ₦66 per kwk in the same week.

With the increase in the Nigeria borrowing, basic commodities are expected to increase in price in order to stabilize the economy.

However, many concerned Nigerians have angrily reacted to the new development.

The minority of the lawmakers, through the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dudi Elumelu, in a statement on Wednesday, condemned the increase, describing it as “unacceptable as it will result in an increase in the already high cost of consumer goods and services, and worsen the current economic hardship being suffered by Nigerians”.
