Tokunbo Abiru, the former Managing Director of Polaris Bank, and Obafemi Saheed, have emerged, unopposed as candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Lagos East Senatorial District and Kosofe II House of Assembly bye-election on October 31 in the state.

The Chief Returning officer and Chairman of the APC Primary Election for Lagos, Hon. Ibrahim Masari declared Mr Abiru who secured 111,551 votes as the party’s candidate for the Senatorial election, while Mr Saheed who got 34,012 votes, was pronounced candidate of the party in the House of Assembly election.

Some aspirants including Vice Chairman, Lagos APC, Chief Kaoli Olusanya; former Head of Service in Lagos, Mr Segun Ogunlewe; and a former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr Rotimi Ogunleye withdrew from the election

Others are former General Manager/ Permanent Secretary, Lagos Television, Mr Lekan Ogunbanwo; former member House of Assembly, Olanrewaju Odesanya; Chairman, Ikorodu Oga Development Association, Chief Olusegun Abiru.

Olusanya said he decided to step aside in the interest of the party.

“I have to step back and allow someone else to take on the task of representing our senatorial district at this time, for some reason that seriously have to do with the larger interest of our dear state and our great party,” he said.
