NewsNigeriaLoaded 40ft Container Falls, Fire Engulfs Truck in Lagos

Emergency rescue officials in Lagos have removed a loaded forty-feet container that fell on the road from a truck at Iyano-Isolo on Friday.

The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Femi Oke Osanyintolu said there was no casualty.

“The Agency’s Eagle Squad at Cappa Oshodi, effectively and efficiently responded to a fallen containerized truck with registration number BDG 635 XM carrying a fully loaded 40Ft container which fell off the road while trying to navigate through a bend at Iyana-Isolo under bridge, inward Mile 2,” Mr Osanyintolu said.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), following recurrent incidents of falling containers in many parts of the country, which sometimes claimed lives, launched Operation Scorpion II to arrest and prosecute drivers of articulated trucks with unlatched containers.

Meanwhile, at Ikorodu, a truck that was conveying empty cartons caught fire due to the malfunction of an electric cable in the vehicle.

“Further investigation by the LRT revealed that the major cause of the inferno was as a result of an electrical spark from one of the engine cables, LASEMA stated.

The FRSC alongside other first responders put out the fire and recovered the remains of the burnt vehicle.
