To ensure conducive learning environment, UNICEF and Adamawa State Government are partnering to construct and rehabilitate one hundred and sixty-five (165) classrooms in eighty (80) schools across Fufore and Guyuk local government areas of Adamawa state.

Speaking at the commencement of work in Central Primary School Fufore, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state, thanked the United Nations Children Fund UNICEF and other development partners for collaborating with the state government to execute the project.

“Breakdown for Fufore includes construction and rehabilitation of forty blocks of eighty classrooms and one parameter fence of two hundred and fifty-six metres, while that of Guyuk, the project will include construction and rehabilitation of forty-two blocks of eighty-five classrooms and three latrines for male and female pupils in the local government area”. He explained.

He assured that government will complement the efforts of the UNICEF and other donor organizations to ensure that resources channeled for the project are judiciously utilised.

He commended the chairman of Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board ADSUBEB and the Board members for the good work they are doing and urged them to double up efforts so that they will leave a legacy that will be proud of in the state.

“Parents and community leaders should ensure that children are enrolled in schools after Covid-19 break as it will be of no use to build and furnish classrooms only to leave them without pupils”. He added

He assured that things will soon pick up because the government is working out modalities to ensure that children do not stay too long out of school.

On his part, the Chief UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Mr Bhanu Pathak said the organization will continue in partnering with the state government to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in education.
