Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum on Sunday returned to Maiduguri after spending two nights in Baga during which he received over 1,000 internally displaced persons who willingly returned to Baga town.
The Governor was in Baga between Friday to Sunday supervising preparations for safe resettlements to the commercial town which used to be strategic to Boko Haram’s commercial operations.

While addressing the returnees in Baga, Zulum urged them to be law-abiding and cooperate with the security agencies in maintaining law and order.
Each of the 1000 returnees was given cash of N10,000 as emergency relief and every adult member of a household received one bag of rice, one bag of maize grain, one bag of beans, and 3 liters of cooking oil.
Governor Zulum while returning, plied the Maiduguri-Baga route along with other government officials in charge of the resettlement of internally displaced persons.
Some returnees described the gesture as commendable,  “Prof. Zulum is just performing his duties as a leader. This is strange to us because we’ve not been seeing people like him in Nigeria.
” How I wish other leaders emulate him, from common local government chairman to presidency so that we will all see that giving accolades to someone who is doing his civic duties should just be like a pat on the back,” an elderly returnee Baba Bulama said in tears.
Also corroborating, another female returnee added that “Honestly this man is not behaving like other Nigerian leaders. Zulum is courageous, hardworking filled with love for his people, determined to redeem his people from the destructions of Boko Haram.
“May God continues to protect and guide you so much sir Amen,” she prayed.
