Hundreds of flood victims in Hadejia local government area in Jigawa state are lamenting the deplorable conditions in evacuation centres.

Reports say  that flood victims from about 13 evacuation centres in Hadejia, Jigawa State decried their abandonment by the state government, adding that they are dying from hunger, starvation and diseases among others.

In a statement issued by the President of Women Foundation for Orphans and Vulnerable children in Hadejia Malam Fatima Kaila,  said the Jigawa state government had not demonstrated care since the devastating natural disaster sacked the flood victims from their houses several weeks.

She appealed to the state government and other stakeholders to sympathize with those displaced by the catastrophe, saying that the hardship they were going through as a result of the flooding was unbearable.

According to the statement, many of the flood victims are fleeing from evacuation centres as they are fed once in a day.

Recalls that on the flood-ravaged communities in Jigawa State, President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the National Emergency Management Agency and other relevant government agencies to assess the situation and provide the needed humanitarian supplies.
