On Tuesday, the Senate asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the service chiefs as a result of their failure to secure the country.

The Senate decision is the third time that it would be passed this year. The motion was moved by Kashim Shettima following their reaction to the recent killings of 43 rice farmers in Borno State by the Boko Haram insurgents.

The legislators asked Buhari to replace the security chiefs with the new ones “immediately.”

The Senate also asked the President to restructure and remodel the country’s security architecture.

Aside that, the red chamber demanded a probe into the allegations of corruption and financial leakages levelled against some military top hierarchy.

The chamber asked Buhari to aggressively negotiate with the country’s neighbors for multinational corporation in order to strengthen the war against the insurgency.

The Senate directed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, NEMA and NEDC to provide succor and psychological support for the families of the victims.

It recommended proper welfare for the soldiers at the war front and proper resettlement and support for the families of the fallen heroes.

It called on the Federal and State governments to address issues fueling insecurity.

The Senate then called for a massive recruitment into the military and the police force.
