By all indications, the time is rough and bitter,  as the Bauchi state chapter of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has dissociated itself from the appearance and utterances of one of its member in the House of Representatives , Hon. Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi (aka Wakilin Birni) at an APC rally in Dass.

The lawmaker  was in Dass town  ahead of the Bauchi Assembly bye-election scheduled for December 5th.

The party in a press statement made available to newsmen by its State Publicity Secretary, Usman Muhammad said the appearance and utterances of the member representing Bauchi local government area at the lower federal legislative chamber did not represent their interest.

“The member was seen at the rally stating that he was there as a PRP member to declare support for the All-Progressives Congress, (APC) in the bye election scheduled to take place on Saturday in Dass Local Government Area”, the statement noted.

The statement condemned the action of the lawmaker, describing it as “anti party”, which it says was contrary to Article 13 (a), (b) and (d) of the Constitution of the PRP.

The party maintained that Hon. Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi was at the rally to represent himself and his personal interest but not that of the PRP.

“Our great party, the PRP neither sent him to represent it nor assigned him to be speaking on its behalf”, the statement said.

The statement added that, “the general public should note that at no time pre- or post-2019 did our party enter into any form of alliance, collaboration or mutual understanding aimed at ensuring that any political party other than our party win any election nor did we agree to support or promote the activities of the APC, PDP or their flag bearers”.

The statement which pointed out that the PRP does not have a candidate and has not endorsed any political party in the forthcoming bye election in Dass, urged its members to vote their conscience.

The statement disclosed that proper disciplinary action will soon be taken against the lawmaker to serve as deterrent to others as the PRP has since its formation built on integrity, ideology, discipline and principle.

“PRP is also above the parochial or mercantile interest of any self-centered individual and it has passed a stage where someone would be making fortune with its name at the detriment of political decency, decorum and good conscience”, the statement further noted.
