Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Thursday presented first-class staff of office to his royal majesty, Hama Bachama, Dr. Daniel Shaga Ismaila, (Kpawo Nemwe, Gilongo Diya).
The new monarch who is the 29th Hama Bachama was appointed on July 27, 2020 a week after the death of the immediate past Hama Bachama, Honest Irmiya Stephen, (Kwire Mana Kpafrato II).
Presenting the staff of office, Fintiri commended the kingmakers for ensuring a hitch-free selection process and for selecting one of the best nominees.
He also thanked the four contestants for the throne who remained steadfast despite not realising their ambitions to rule the kingdom.
“My appreciation of this sincere way of accepting people of all extractions as part of “Bwara” communities, no doubt explains the qualities of the human virtue that engendered the peaceful relationship happily shared on this occasion.
“Let this continue along this path just the way my Government has strived to foster peace and resolve the Farmer/Herder conflicts that have predated it.
“It is common knowledge to note how peaceful the Bwatiye people have lived with people of other ethnicities stretching from Bang its last settlement at the western border with Taraba State of Nigeria and into the stretches of Demsa Pwa and Garua in the Cameroun republic.
“Allow me at this stage, to align the aspiration of this government with the expectation of this presentation of instrument and staff of office.
“Before the government-endorsed His Majesty for the task to lead as empowered by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it was facilitated by the noble, intelligent, honest and open character of the person of Hama Bachama.
“In considering his fine, friendly, forthright, and strict adherence to justice, this government sincerely looks up to him for considerable guidance in the search for peace, unity, and development of our people in the Bachama kingdom and beyond.
“With this in mind, as a friend and more than just a Governor to this community, I look forward to a good and lasting relationship with the kingdom,” said he.
In his acceptance speech, the Hama Bachama who thanked the governor for his support and spiritedness towards the Bachama nation pledged to work hand-in-hand with the government to ensure eternal peace between herders and farmers in the area.
“It is important that I clarify some misconceptions and outright lies if only to disabuse the minds of everyone who lives in our kingdom but who is not of the kingdom.
” I have heard the lies and mischief being spread around that the Bachama kingdom plans to flush out all herdsmen and non-indigenous persons from the Kingdom.
“This failed effort at blackmailing the kingdom is, to say the least, malicious, self-serving, and pedestrian. And like other lies before it, this one too shall fail.
“No community or society can claim to truly develop while avoiding or refusing to accommodate others, and without embracing diversity and inclusiveness. There is power in diversity and I believe in this power. The United States of America is what it is today because long ago, she understood and took advantage of diversity to harness the very best of human resources from all parts of the world who worked to build and develop America.
” We have enjoyed relative peace and quite for some time now because of the strategy of continuous engagement and dialogue adopted by the state government.
” Frequent and regular dialogue between farmers and herders and between the leadership of farmers and herders and committed involvement of government and the security and peace reconciliation committee is paying off. Our kingdom will therefore continue to support every peace initiative to implement solutions and strategies agreed upon until we ate able to stabilize and to enjoy sustainable peace,” he said.
