Founder of the Reformed Peoples Democratic Party (R-PDP), a breakaway faction of mainstream PDP in Adamawa State, Dr. Umar Ardo, has reacted to recent comments by the state governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri that ‘’ no more opposition in the state ‘’, saying that the governor is rattled.

Recalls that Governor Fintiri responding to the allegation by the opposition that the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) government in Adamawa has failed, had chided that no opposition party in the state could make him have a sleepless night.

But Dr. Ardo fielding questions from newsmen averred that there could be no smoke without fire, ‘’ in the first place what brought the issue of no opposition in the state? I think Fintiri is rattled, but people like us will not be deterred or cajole to stop our fight.

‘’ I am not fighting Fintiri but rather our struggle is to entrench sanity in our party, so he should not get rattled.

‘’ But there is this adage which says –there could be no smoke without fire,’’ adding that the governor could be jittered by the mounting oppositions.

He recalls that‘’ In fact, disturbed by the continued violation of internal party democracy had spurred over 30 political parties in Adamawa state to throw their weight behind me.

‘’ I had been in the forefront of fighting against injustice, impunity, and lack of internal democracy in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

‘’ Let me tell you, these political parties have also vowed to work with me to salvage democracy and entrench sanity into the political system for the benefits of Nigerians,’’ said he.

Dr. Ardo said he will continue to fight in the ruling party to ‘’ bring sanity and justice. I had challenged the process that brought the current leadership of the party and even the entire process that saw the emergence of Fintiri.’’

The PDP chieftain busted that he  has been standing alone for over 12 years fighting for the ‘’ entrenchment of internal democracy in Adamawa politic from the state to national level, and moving in and out of courts to salvage democracy, expending  my  resources to rescue our democracy from all forms of injustice, impunity and lack of internal democracy, so  I will not relent on it.”
