ABUJA — The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya has promised Nigerians that the Nigerian Army would remain focused on tackling the numerous security challenges bedeviling the country.

Yahaya made the promise in his goodwill message to officers, soldiers, and their families on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration 2021, in Abuja on Monday.

He emphasized that Eid-el-Kabir festival encompasses virtues of obedience, loyalty, and sacrifice, which were the hallmark of professional soldiering.

Yahya also used the Eid-el-Kabir festival to pay special tributes to troops who have paid the supreme price in defence of Nigeria, praying for their gentle souls to rest in peace.

“Eid-el-Kabir festival, therefore, provides a unique opportunity for us to reflect and redouble our efforts towards fulfilling our constitutional roles of defeating our adversaries and defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

“No doubt, the nation is faced with myriads of security challenges, the Nigerian Army has so far lived up to expectations and will continue to remain focused in tackling these challenges,” COAS said.

Yahaya also appreciated the immense sacrifices of Nigerian troops in Operations Thunder Strike, Hadin Kai, Whirl Stroke, Hadarin Daji, and all other operations the Army is engaged in within and outside Nigeria.
