MAIDUGURI — The Nigerian Army on its verified Facebook page says no fewer than 104 fighters of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) have surrendered to troops in Borno State.

According to the post on Monday, those who surrendered to the 25 Task Force Brigade Damboa included 22 males, 27 females and 55 children.

 “ISWAP and their families numbering 104 comprising 22 males, 27 females and 55 children surrendered to troops of 25 Task Force Brigade Damboa, Borno State on Saturday 5 February 2022,” the post read.

The military’s Operation Hadin Kai increased offensives in Marte after intelligence revealed multiple camps there.

The recent Nigerian Air Force (NAF) bombardments had eliminated four top commanders of the terrorist group to include Amir Abdulrahman of Abbaganaram; Imam Tujja, Imam of Bukar Mairam; Malam Ibrahim, Amir of Jubularam, and Bakura Imar.
