YOLA — In an effort to put smiles on the faces of orphans, a faith-based organization Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria (IMWON), on Sunday distributed foodstuff and clothes to 70 Orphans in Yola North and South local government areas.

Speaking at the event held at the premises of the organization in Jimeta, Adamawa state Amirah, Malama Asma’u Aliyu Abubakar advised parents to take full responsibility for ensuring the proper upbringing of their children for them to be responsible members of the society.

She decried the attitude of some parents who have a lukewarm attitude towards the education of their children, but always send them on errands to hawk, and explained that every child has the right to both Islamic and western education.

Malama Asma’u also cautioned some women who pretend under the guise of poverty and resort to begging, maintaining that Islamic religion is against begging.

The Amirah, who stressed the importance of assisting orphans and other less privileged in the society, considering its enormous benefit, particularly in the Holy month of Ramadan, cautioned Muslims to refrain from unnecessary speeches in the month of Ramadan so as not to thwart their rewards.

She quoted some verses in the Holy Qur’an that spoke on assisting the needy with foodstuff and urged Muslims to always impart the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in their daily lives.
