Troops of the Joint Task Force of Operation “HADARIN DAJI” deployed at Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State have neutralized 15 armed bandits.
The bandits were reported to have invaded the Sabon Gari Area of Bakura Town during the evening hours of Tuesday and started shooting sporadically after rustling a large Number of cattle.
According to sources, the superior fire-power of the security forces deployed to Bakura town forced the Bandits to abandon the rustled cattle and flee towards Kurunkudu into the forest, with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.
It said during the fire-fight, scores of the bandits were killed while others were seen fleeing towards the forest with gunshot wounds.
“We are happy with the quick response of the Nigerian Army Troops here at Bakura,” a resident of the town told Radio Nigeria.
“They have assisted us in killing scores of the Bandits who invaded our community and they also helped us to recover all the cattle stolen by the bandits,” the source added.
The source further said 1 local was killed by the bandits while 5 others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at General Hospital Bakura.
