Ahead of the primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the former governors of Ogun and Osun States, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Bisi Akande, have convened meetings for presidential aspirants from the South-West.

The report has it that the meeting was called for the region to present a united front going into the Presidential primary as there are now many aspirants from the region.

The meeting which was scheduled for Friday, May 6, is coming after the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, warned the ruling party against zoning the 2023 presidential slot to the northern part of the country, noting it would lead to crises.

In a statement titled, ‘Our party, APC, must tread the path of equity, Akeredolu maintained that it was the turn of the southern region to produce the next president.

It was gathered that the meeting was convened in order for the APC stakeholders to reduce the number of presidential aspirants so that the South West would have a better chance of getting the APC ticket.

According to source, some of the attendees expected at the meeting which would hold at the Lagos House in Marina, included the National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, and Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Deputy Senate Leader, Prof Ajayi Boroffice, South-West governors in the APC, and other stakeholders are among those expected to be at the meeting.
