AWKA — Uzuegbuna Okagbue this evening had a session with members of his team, where he reassured them that his commitment to good governance is total and beyond electioneering politics.
Speaking to the team members whom he is meeting after the outcome of the APGA primaries over a month ago, Okagbue said he is certain that it takes more than politics to be able to impact lives and propagate quality governance. He further argued in favour of the divinity of leadership but regretted that while some people say leadership is divine, they also go to meddle with the process which then thwarts divine order.
This meddlesomeness he argued, is a major issue with democracy. “People will say power comes from God. But they will go to any length to meddle with clear democratic order so that they will have their way and that’s why our democracy is problematic. Human beings always try to manipulate the process, that is the problem,” Uzuegbuna Okagbue said.
Speaking on his senatorial aspiration, he thanked the team for the support and confidence. But maintains his absolute faith in the divinity of life and its purpose on earth.
In their reactions, all members of the team expressed gratitude to Okagbue for showing leadership. Many emphasized that this might be the first time an aspirant is reaching out to interface with his team even when the political voyage did not turn out as expected.
The team also assured Uzu Okagbue that he can count on them, any day.
For Uzuegbuna Okagbue, the future remains in God’s hands. “What we are talking is not about me as an individual”. On his next political move, Uzuegbuna Okagbue insisted that at the appointed time, he will make known his position and also comment on certain developments within the polity, at different levels of government.
Ebuka graduated with a second-class upper-division degree in Political Science from the University of Calabar in Nigeria. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Political Science with a specialization in Government and Development Studies from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Nigeria.
