The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will meet on Thursday over the ongoing strike embarked upon by the union.
The emergency meeting is to review recent developments, especially the positive response from the federal government to the union’s demands.
Ahead of the NEC meeting expected to take place at its headquarters in Abuja, zonal branches will meet tomorrow, Wednesday for deliberations and votes on the nearly eight-month strike.
The outcome of the zonal and NEC meetings will determine if the union would call off the strike that has grounded public universities for over seven months.
However, there are speculations that the strike would be suspended late Thursday or Friday morning after the meeting.
Human rights lawyer and counsel to ASUU, Femi Falana (SAN) had said the union would soon call off its lingering strike.
