The President of Senegal, Bassirou Doamaye Faye, will be honoured as a distinguished African political leader. President Faye who was elected on the back of popular demand for social change in Senegal, has now become a symbol of social change across Africa, especially among African youths.
The Africa Illustrious Award is a biannual event that happens in June and December, where African impactful leaders in various works of life are honoured, as part of the deliberate effort to tell the African story of resilience and progress.
Prof. Nnennaya Oti, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri- FUTO, will be honoured with the prestigious Africa Illustrious Award. Prof. Oti refused overtures to be used as a willing tool in thwarting the
expressed the will of the people of Abia State in the 2023 Governorship Election in Abia.
On the list of nominees for the various categories of the Africa Illustrious Award, is also Dele Momodu. Mr. Momodu is the president of Ovation Magazine. By every strand of imagination, he is a man who has carved his own space in the media world through handwork. He has continued to serve his community with everything within his reach.
Similarly, Mr. Paul Chukwuma, a prominent community and political leader in Anambra State, has also been nominated for the award.
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, former President of Nigeria is a recipient of the Africa Illustrious Award, among many other Illustrious recipients. In the past, Dr. Alfred Mutua, the former Governor of Machakos County in Kenya, who is now Kenya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been honoured with the award.
The 2024 Africa Illustrious Award will be held at
the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island of Lagos, on June 21, 2024.
This Award promises to showcase the best of Africa while celebrating African excellence in all human endeavours.
