Twenty-five suspected drug dealers and users were arrested by the Plateau State Police command during a coordinated operation targeting major drug hotspots in Jos, the state capital.

The raid, which was carried out on Friday evening, focused on Old Airport Junction and Fwavei Junction, areas identified by security agencies as centers for the sale and distribution of cannabis, controlled drugs, and other prohibited substances.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Alfred Alabo, said the operation was conducted by a joint team led by the officers in charge of the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU), alongside personnel from the Anglo-Jos Division, Anti-Cybercrime and Narcotic Unit, Monitoring Unit, and Eagle Eye Patrol Team.
He explained that the operation, which commenced at about 7:55 p.m. on June 20, has yielded positive results with the arrest of 25 suspects, and various exhibits, including cannabis and other illicit substances, were recovered from the suspects who are currently in police custody.
Alabo disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, CP Bassey Ewah, has commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism, courage, and effective collaboration, describing the raid as another achievement in the command’s ongoing war against drug-related crimes.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the command’s commitment to eliminating drug trafficking and other criminal activities across the state through sustained intelligence-led operations and aggressive patrols.
He assured citizens that the command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while working with stakeholders to build a drug-free Plateau State.
Ewah urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information, warning that individuals involved in drug trafficking or any form of criminality would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
