The Plateau State Government has imposed dusk-to-dawn curfew on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Mangu Local Government Areas over emerging security concerns.
The imposition of the curfew was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Jos by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap said the curfew came into effect on Monday, September 21, 2026, restricting movement from 6 pm to 6 am until further notice.
“The Plateau State Government has declared an immediate, dusk-to-dawn curfew across Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas to maintain public order and curb emerging security threats in the region. Effective today, Monday, September 21, 2026, the restriction of movement is between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM until further notice,” the statement said.
According to the Commissioner, the measure became necessary to maintain public order and protect lives.
“The administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang took this decision to allow security agencies to stabilize the affected areas, protect lives and property, and prevent a breakdown of law and order,” Ramnap said.
The Commissioner urged residents to comply with the order, saying security operatives have been given strict orders.
“We urge residents of the affected local government areas to comply with the directive and plan their commercial, agricultural and personal activities around the restricted hours,” she appealed.
“Security operatives have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew and a ban on the use of motorcycles across the affected areas with immediate effect,” she said.
Ramnap further reassured the public about the professional conduct of security personnel.
“We want to reassure law-abiding residents that security personnel deployed to enforce the measures will operate professionally. We urge you to cooperate with the security agencies as the government works to restore stability in the affected communities,” Ramnap added
