A communal conflict between Waja and Lunguda communities has left many persons feared dead in Guyuk Local Government Areas of Adamawa state.

This is coming barely one month after Tingno’s violent attack in the neighbouring Lamurde local government area with 50  residents killed, other sixty injured.

Fleeing residents say that the violence, started last Tuesday night following a land dispute between the two tribes.

Reports say also said that Momsurmi, Boshikiri, Zakawon and Burti villages were also burnt in the communal conflicts.

It was also gathered that animals and foodstuffs were also destroyed during the clash that lasted several hours, before the military intervention to contain the situation.

‘’Though I can say the exact casualty figures because we have all scampered for our lives, but lives were lost.

‘’ It was a land dispute and it has been there for years unresolved; villages affected include Boshikiri, Zakawon, Burti, and Momsurmi.

‘’ The Chairman Guyuk local government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Dumna district.

‘’Beside human lives, animals and foodstuffs were also destroyed and many injured,’’ a  female fleeing resident Madam Kauna.

The state Deputy Governor, Crowther Seth, in the company of the Brigade Commander of the 23 brigade Yola, Brig. Gen Sani Mohammed, who visited the scene, assured of normalcy.

Seth assured that government will investigate the immediate and remote causes of the clash with a view to bringing perpetrators to book.

He warned against further escalation of the violence.

Lafiya Lamurde town is completely deserted following the clash as commuters playing  Gombe-Yola roads are gripped with panic especially with the interstate lockdown.
