Contrary to reports that eight members of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State House of Assembly have concluded plans to join the All Progressive Congress (APC) to allegedly take over the leadership of the Assembly, APC  lawmakers denied a plot to impeach the speaker.

Reports earlier said that the plot to remove the Speaker and his Deputy was concluded after a series of meetings that were held in Abuja last week with some top APC national chieftains.

‘’ Representatives of the aggrieved PDP lawmakers including a member of the Federal House of Representative has earlier met with APC National Caretaker Committee Chairman and Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni to negotiate their defection to APC,’’ an inside source said.

But in a swift reaction, an APC lawmaker  Hon. Bashir Muhammaed Bape, member representing Nguroje constituency said that‘’ for now, we are not aware of such move, it’s just an imagination of rumour peddlers.

‘’ As APC member,  I am not aware This time they will join force with the APC members in the house to remove the speaker, Joseph Albasu Kunini and control the Assembly.”

Bape who is also, chairman House committee on information, further stressed that,’’ the leadership of the House is intact and working harmoniously devoid of rancor.

‘’We urge the public to disregard the said concocted impeachment plot,  we are not aware that this time some PDP members in the Assembly are joining force with us,  APC members in the house to remove the speaker, Joseph Albasu Kunini and control the Assembly,” Bape stressed.

The eight PDP members that were said to be planning to move to APC include Mr. Payos Sabo Wukari I; Josiah John Aji Wukari 2; Takum 2 Mark Hussaini Bako; Timothy Anderifun Ussa; and Gambo Maikudi Bali1.

Others are Charles Maijankai Karim Lamido 1; Garba Ajiya Takum and Abel Peter Diah, a former speaker from Mbamga constituency who had been at loggerhead with Governor Ishaku following his removal as Speaker in 2019.
