HealthNewsWellnessNGO flags off Hepatitis Elimination Program in Taraba

A non-governmental Organization Center for Initiative Development CFID based in Taraba State, North East Nigeria has flagged off a Community Hepatitis Elimination Programme with a modern Digital Diagnostic Center in Jalingo, the state capital.

Speaking at the occasion, the Executive Director of CFID, Mr. Danjuma Adda said the new Secretariat and the Digital Diagnostic Center launched will enhance a swift diagnosis of Hepatitis and other diseases.

He informed that it will also accelerate the cure and treatment of Hepatitis C thereby reducing the duration of time patients wait to get results for diagnosis.

Adda, added that with the commissioning of the Digital Diagnostic Center and the official flag off of the Hepatitis Elimination Programme the treatment of Hepatitis will be accessible and affordable for Patients in Taraba and Nigeria at large.

Danjuma Adda, further stressed that the center will be a one stop shop patients to access treatment for Hepatitis and other diseases.

“Our Organization has secured partnership with pharmaceutical companies and other development partners who will supply drugs for the treatment and cure for Hepatitis C at subsidized rates.

This will help speed up the Hepatitis Elimination Programme and also make treatment accessible and affordable” Adda said.

He noted that the high cost for drugs and lack of availability of Diagnostic Center has made most people to patronize fake drugs and non professional thereby leading to more liver diseases and other complications.

“So, our drugs will be very affordable so even low income people will have access to diagnosis, treatment and cure for Hepatitis C and other levels of Hepatitis.

”We now have a digital Diagnostic machine that will instantly provide results from patients within hours thereby eliminating the long duration that patients have to wait before they get results” said Adda.

It would be recalled that Mr. Danjuma Adda was recently elected as the President World Hepatitis Alliance, the first black man to occupy such a position.
