Fatai Osho, Enyimba FC coach, said Horoya AC used the devil’s bean on his boys during a CAF confederation cup on March 8 in Conakry.

The second leg match saw Horoya AC thrashing Enyimba 2 goals to nil and ending the Nigerian side’s dream of making it to the semi-final stage and then claiming the CAF Confederation Cup.

Responding to the loss on Facebook, the former Remo Stars coach who became the Aba Elephant’s coach after Usman Abd’Allah was sacked, accused the Guinean side, Horoya AC of using ‘werepe’ on his boys.

Also known as Mucuna or Velvet bean, the devil’s bean is called ‘agbara’ by the Igbos and “werepe” by the Yorubas.

“A complete disgrace. A team incapacitating her opponents through chemical agents during a match. This is absolutely unbelievable. I still can’t believe the shameful desperation of this Horoya team. Waiting for CAF position on it, though,” Osho wrote.

“If quick measures are not taken, they might ignorantly kill one of their opponents in their bid to be successful.

“It was actually the Horoya AC players that perpetrated this act alongside the ball boys who hold these things for them. They capitalize on the opportunity of throw-in and corner-kicks to get it into the field to drop on opposing players.”

“It is called ‘werepe’ in Yoruba language. No player will have on his body and be able to perform and concentrate again. I still find it difficult to believe till this moment. They are a bunch of fraud and cheap people,” he added.

In the first leg of the match, played in Nigeria on March 2, Enyimba held Horoya AC to a 1-1 draw. Mr. Osho said his boys were not fully fit for the game.”
